In January, I set my resolutions, sorta'. But, I did write out my intentions during the Winter Solstice in late December—that sacred moment when the world gets dark and quiet. Oh how I'm learning to embrace winter more than ever before! Those intentions surrounded my business (mostly) and the growth I was hoping for, but they went so much deeper.
I really wanted to turn the shed in our backyard into something magical. I wanted it to be a place of peace and healing for all who entered. I would take my warm cup of coffee out to the cold shed, watching each development along the way. With my builder, Ty, we created a cozy and Earthy space. It turned out better than I'd hoped. (A bit more expensive, too, but it's only money, right?)
I wanted to plant tons of lavender, to create a sanctuary of gardens where visitors could breathe and think and simply be. I wasn't even certain of what plants would surprise us, but so far, we've had beautiful colors ever since the first blooms in spring. I think of the previous owner, Melissa, and how she loved tending to this property. On my birthday, in late April, Tommy and I planted the new Peace Pole he gifted me, and the next day I held the GRAND OPENING! AND WOW!!!! The love and community I felt was palpable.
I also wanted to remain connected to my daughters, since they live faraway, and continue my connection to the rest of my family. Distance can be so challenging, but we do our best. And, now that I live closer to Put-in-Bay again, things are much easier. My husband and I had just settled into our new home and I was hopeful for continued peace and presence with him, too.
And, guess what? All these things have transpired in six short months. The shed is transformed. The lavender is thriving. My daughters and I continue to text, facetime, and call often. My extended family is closer. My home feels like a sanctuary.
SO. MUCH. GROWTH!
Hope to see you on the 28th of June between 11-4.
Love, Christie
